Is it imperative to be sexually active in order to be working as a sex therapist? People ask me if I’m ‘in a relationship’ (which I suspect is a polite way of asking if I’m having sex). I feel as if I’m about to be judged, along the lines of ‘How can you help people with sex if you’re not doing it yourself?’ But would you assume that every football coach is still playing? Having been a masseuse for twenty five years, I can tell you that the knees of most footballers past a certain age are destroyed, so even if those coaches are still obsessed with the beautiful game they’re probably quite relieved to be sitting on the sidelines. Not that I have any chronic injuries from too much sex, but for the time being though (never say never), I’m what they call ‘over it’.
