Burning Man in August 2011 was the best ever. It had the best vibe, the best weather, the best music and the best art. It also felt like the end of an era. Tickets had sold out for the first time just prior to the gates opening and confusion hung in the air concerning our community’s future. Speculation was rife as to how the city might function with restricted places given its number one principle was ‘Radical Inclusion: Anyone may be a part of Burning Man’. Such a state of flux seemed strangely appropriate for our visit; even the theme was Rites of Passage.
