I really love the goals of Advantages of Age and believe it is a needed magazine! I am considering subscribing. I have read 2-3 articles and really enjoyed them. I am also considering submitting work (either fiction, non-fiction or poetry) but I do not know how to submit. Would I need to be subscribed to submit? My reason for putting off subscribing is that I am flooded with personal and bureaucratic projects and poetry work (yay, for the poetry!) and feeling very overwhelmed these days. I am hoping things will loosen up in a few months. (Extra bureaucracy is normal if one is an immigrant . That said, I no longer live in the UK though I am not originally from there.)
Brava on all your efforts and good work! And yes, I love the video too. Great idea! Makes AOA feel even more intimate.
Best to you,
Laura Grevel

Hi Laura Great to hear from you. And thank you for your enthusiasm about the magazine. It would be great if you could subscribe. There is a special offer at the moment which means it's £4 99 for the month or £49.99 for the year instead of £6.99 and £69.99. Submitting is via me on rosejanerouse@yahoo.co.uk. I would love you to write something about Crone and what it means to you and the Crone Cronicles. Yeh to the poetry indeed. Where are you based. And thanks re video. I might make more. xx I think you're a member of our FB group are you? Advantages of Age - Babyboomers and Beyond. Thank you.
It is a new dimension, and I've been subscribed to Kevin Sessums since I fell in love with him at the AOA Awards, and was surpried you upped sticks and moved so quick as lightening.
I think I like it.
I like the look.
I guess I'm a payer as I was paying a monthly whatever, about a fiver a month … I seem to be able to read things. I notice an invite to become a founding member for an annual fee that I just can't manage right now, but that won't always be true.
It is funny timing, but I am also thinking about doing a bit of voice, maybe some poems, or even other pieces. I did quite a rough one a few weeks ago and posted it on FB. I am working on how to raise my game a bit…
Anyway, I am wittering.
& I agree with Anna, it does feel like and entirely different creature the Substack thing, and I wouldn't mind a couple of videos - you/Suzanne just clarifying how it is so different, how to make the best use of it and for forth in that vein...
Have enjoyed reading the articles, always so well written and informative. I admire the talent and dedication and the stories are filled with great insights into life. Thank you for sharing , greatly appreciated
I wonder if you need to chat more about what Substack is and where to find it? I had never heard of it and wasn't sure how to find it. I have just got the app and will enjoy trawling through the archive.
audio is a great idea!!! I love being on it however only few comments my piece so wondering how many people actually go on and read our stuff? Find it a bit clunky to navigate and sometimes just give up!!! that might be my inability to work it out though!
Yes, we can tell how many people open up the email etc and it's quite a good percentage ie 43 percent... but I'd like to get more. Over 800 people read your piece according to the stats...
If you subscribe for free to advantagesofage.substack.com - you can read every other article that we publish for no money. But to read the archive - it's for paid members. We do have a whole lot of subheadings on the page. Perhaps you need to sign in. X
Good to hear from you on here! You should have your own Substack. Yes you are a paying subscriber - thank you. I think the inimitable @Kevin Sessums got quite a few new subscribers after our awards. I look forward to your piece for us on here!
I’m finding the Substack quite frustrating. Firstly, when I searched for Advantages of Age, you didn’t show up. When I eventually managed to find you (by subscribing to Suzanne and following links), I claimed a free read. Having had this one free read, it is now impossible to read anything else in full, without paying (all the articles I can see are labelled ‘paid’). I can’t afford to be a paid subscriber at the moment. So, I can’t say Substack is working particularly well for me. Sorry! Also, at one point I found a version with subheadings - Sex Death or Travel. Now I can’t get to this - just a page with one long list of articles. Anyhow, in the hopes of finding the subheading page again, would it be possible to add more subheadings (eg the same as in the book)? Sorry not to be more positive! Early days I guess. x
How are you getting on now with it? All the archive is now for paid subscribers. But lots of the new pieces are free. This week's for instance. Plus I do a AofA Talking Points every week. Totally understand re you can't afford it at mo. We decided to simplify the headings... xx
Hi again - another thing is that I can no longer share my AofA articles with people who are not paid up, which is a bit of a pity - and cannot access them myself either...

Hiya - I still find it hard to find the AoA substack…
It's at advantagesofage.substack.com
Thanks, the only thing is that when you search for Advantages of Age on Substack, you don't find you!
